"Expats in Atyrau often find the language barrier to be the most challenging aspect of the local culture. As the majority of the population speaks Kazakh, many expats find it difficult to communicate with locals. Additionally, the local culture is quite conservative, and expats may find it difficult to adjust to the more traditional values and customs. Furthermore, the climate in Atyrau can be quite extreme, with hot summers and cold winters, which can be difficult to adjust to for those coming from more temperate climates," explained one expat living in Atyrau, Kazakhstan.
