"One of the most challenging aspects of retiring in Punta del Este is the cost of living. The cost of living in Punta del Este is significantly higher than in other parts of Uruguay, making it difficult for retirees to make ends meet. Additionally, the language barrier can be a challenge for retirees who do not speak Spanish. Although English is spoken in some areas, it is not widely spoken, making it difficult to communicate with locals. Finally, the lack of public transportation can be a challenge for retirees who do not have access to a car," remarked another expat who made the move to Punta del Este, Uruguay.
