What are healthcare services like in Sorrento?

Answer this Question

We asked retirees if they have access to good medical care in Sorrento. They wrote...

"Healthcare services in Sorrento are generally of a high standard, with both public and private facilities available. The public healthcare system, known as the Servizio Sanitario Nazionale (SSN), provides free or low-cost healthcare to all residents, including emergency care, hospital care, and access to specialists. Private healthcare is also available and is often used for non-emergency services or by those seeking faster treatment. Pharmacies are well-stocked and can be found throughout the city. Sorrento is home to several hospitals and clinics, including the Sorrento Hospital, which offers a range of services from general medicine to surgery. English-speaking doctors and medical staff are available, although this is more common in private facilities. It's also worth noting that European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) holders are entitled to the same treatment as Italian citizens. Overall, Sorrento's healthcare system is well-equipped to handle a variety of medical needs," remarked another expat in Sorrento, Italy.
