"Santa Ana, like many other cities, does experience crime. However, it is generally considered to be safer than some other areas in the country. Petty crimes such as theft and pickpocketing are the most common, especially in crowded areas and on public transportation. Violent crimes are less common, but they do occur occasionally. It is always recommended for residents and visitors to take precautions, such as not displaying valuable items in public, being aware of their surroundings, and avoiding less populated areas at night. Despite these issues, many people live in and visit Santa Ana without experiencing any crime," said another expat in Santa Ana, Costa Rica.
