Is there a lot of crime in San Miguel de Allende?

Answer this Question

We asked people if there is a lot of crime. They answered...

"San Miguel de Allende is generally considered a safe city, and the local government has undertaken several initiatives to reduce crime. Generally, petty crime such as pickpocketing and theft is not uncommon in more touristy areas of the city, so visitors should take the appropriate precautions to ensure the safety of their belongings. However, there have been fewer reports of violent crime in San Miguel de Allende than other similarly sized cities in Mexico," explained one expat living in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico.
