What advice do overseas retirees have for others considering retiring abroad?
When we asked what advice they have for others considering retiring abroad, they advised...
"Make sure to check all the necessary paperwork to ensure you can stay, retire, and work in the country. Familiarize yourself with the language and culture of the country before arriving so you can better interact with and adapt to the locals. Carefully research the cost of living to make sure it fits within your budget. Speak with other expats who have already retired in the area to get comprehensive advice. Consider health coverage and availability of medical care in the country. Research any local clubs and associations of fellow retirees so you can find a support network and make friends right away. And finally, be prepared to explore and embrace all the experiences the new country has to offer," commented one expat who made the move to Panadura, Sri Lanka.
