When we asked what advice they have for others considering retiring abroad, they advised...
"Retiring abroad can be a great adventure for anyone looking for a change of scenery and culture. The retirees in Lake Chapala recommend that anyone considering retiring abroad take some time to research their new home. Make sure you understand the local language and customs, and talk to people who already live in the area. Lake Chapala is a great place to retire to because of the warm climate, excellent healthcare, and low cost of living. It also has plenty of cultural and recreational activities. But remember that retirement is a big change and adapting to a new way of life may take time. Be sure to stay connected to your family and loved ones back home. Above all, enjoy the experience of exploring a new place and take the opportunity to try something different," remarked another expat who made the move to Lake Chapala, Mexico.
"Lake Chapala is an inexpensive place to live and has a large expat community from all over the the wolrld with near perfect year around weather and lots of activities for retirees to take advantage of," explained one expat living in Ajijic and Chapala, Mexico.
