What are the schools in Macao like?
When we asked about the schools in Macao, they said...
"The international schools and bilingual schools in Macao, offer a variety of excellent educational opportunities for both local and international students. The three most prestigious international schools in Macao are the Macao British School (MBS), the International School of Macau (TIS) and the International Chinese School of Macau (ICM). MBS is a British-international school with a mission to “prepare students to succeed in life by developing their knowledge, skills and character in a multicultural, international and challenging environment”. TIS offers an interesting approach to learning with a structure emphasizing cross-cultural and cooperative learning as well as the school’s commitment to social responsibility. Additionally, ICM focuses on providing quality education based on a “unique blend of traditional Chinese cultural values and modern academic systems”. Furthermore, bilingual schools like the Macao Asia Pacific International School (MAPIS) and the UIC Pui Ching Middle School (UICPCMS) offer students the opportunity to receive an additional educational experience that combines Western and Chinese educational models," wrote an expat with kids at in Macao, China.
"Most teachers are very good, kind and professional. There are sports clubs and some extra-curricular activities for kids. But if you look for organized sports activities with some inter-school competition, it is totally absent in Macao. TIS is not an exception. Unfortunately, the school is surrounded by huge casino buildings. Unless you have to come to Macao with your family, TIS would not be your choice," commented one expat when asked about The International School of Macao (TIS) in Macao.
