What should I pack when moving to St Ives?
We asked people living in St Ives to list three things they wish they had brought and three they wish they had left behind. They responded...
"When moving to St Ives, you should pack clothing suitable for a temperate maritime climate, which means warm clothing for the winter and lighter clothing for the summer. Rain gear, such as waterproof jackets and umbrellas, are essential due to the frequent rainfall. Comfortable walking shoes are also necessary as the town is known for its cobblestone streets and scenic walking paths. If you're planning to visit the beach, don't forget to pack swimwear, beach towels, sunscreen, and a hat for sun protection. For those who enjoy surfing, a wetsuit would be beneficial due to the cooler water temperatures. Pack all necessary toiletries, but keep in mind that most items can be purchased locally. If you have prescription medications, ensure you have enough to last until you can arrange a local supply. Bring along your important documents such as passport, driver's license, and any necessary immigration paperwork. If you're moving for work or study, remember to pack any relevant documents like work permits or university acceptance letters. If you're planning to cook, basic kitchen supplies could be useful, although these can also be bought after you arrive. Similarly, you might want to pack some basic home supplies like bedding and towels for your first few nights, especially if your accommodation is unfurnished. Lastly, consider packing a few personal items to make your new place feel like home. This could be photographs, favorite books, or small keepsakes," wrote a member who made the move to St Ives, England.
