What should I pack when moving to Istanbul?

Answer this Question

We asked people living in Istanbul to list three things they wish they had brought and three they wish they had left behind. They responded...

"When moving to Istanbul, it is important to pack items that will help you adjust to the climate and culture. Pack clothing that is appropriate for the warm summers and cold winters, such as light layers for the summer and heavier coats and sweaters for the winter. Additionally, pack items that will help you adjust to the culture, such as modest clothing for women and traditional Turkish clothing for special occasions. It is also important to bring items that will help you feel at home, such as pictures of family and friends, books, and other items that will make you feel comfortable. Finally, make sure to bring any necessary documents, such as a passport, visa, and other important paperwork," said a member in Istanbul, Turkey.
