Expats should also be aware that the currency used is the Belize Dollar, and that US Dollars are widely accepted. Additionally, expats should be aware that the climate in The Cayes is tropical, with temperatures ranging from the mid-70s to the mid-90s Fahrenheit. Expats should also be aware that the cost of living in The Cayes is relatively low, and that the area is known for its beautiful beaches and diverse wildlife. Finally, expats should be aware that the healthcare system in Belize is not as advanced as in other countries, and that medical insurance is recommended," remarked another expat in The Cayes, Belize.
"I’ll give the same advice everyone else gives, come by and stay a couple of months, visit different parts of the country THEN make your decision," said a member in San Pedro, Belize.
