What do I need to know before moving to Muscat?

Answer this Question

When we asked people what advice they would give someone preparing to move to Muscat, they said...

"Before moving to Muscat, expats should be aware that the official language is Arabic, although English is widely spoken. It is important to familiarize oneself with the local customs and culture, as well as the laws and regulations of the country. Expats should also be aware that the climate in Muscat is hot and dry, with temperatures reaching up to 40°C in the summer months. Additionally, expats should be aware that the cost of living in Muscat is relatively high, and that it is important to have a valid visa and residence permit before arriving in the country. Finally, expats should be aware that the healthcare system in Muscat is of a high standard, and that there are a number of international schools available for expat children," said another expat in Muscat, Oman.

"No doubt. Certainly Oman is wonderful place to spend life if you are nature lover and believe in family life. The best location to move in are Al Khuwair, Al -Athaibah, Al Seeb and Al Qurum. These are decent locations with shopping mall in close vicinity," wrote a member who made the move to Muscat, Oman.
