What do I need to know before moving to Mal Pais?

Answer this Question

When we asked people what advice they would give someone preparing to move to Mal Pais, they said...

"Before moving to Mal Pais you should consider the cost of living and the availability of job opportunities. It is important to research the crime rate to ensure your safety. You will also want to learn about the local laws and regulations to make sure you are following all the rules. Finding a place to live should be done in advance as the housing market is limited. Reliable transportation is important and often public transportation is not an option. Lastly, it is good to familiarize yourself with the local customs and culture as you transition into your new home," commented one expat who made the move to Mal Pais, Costa Rica.
