Where should I setup a bank account in Las Terrenas?

Answer this Question

We asked expats in Las Terrenas what banks they use and there advice about banking. They advised...

"Before retiring in Las Terrenas, expats should be aware of the cost of living, which is generally lower than in the United States. Expats should also research the availability of healthcare services and the quality of the local infrastructure. Additionally, expats should be aware of the local culture and customs, and the language barrier that may exist. It is also important to research the local real estate market and the availability of rental properties. Finally, expats should be aware of the local climate and the potential for natural disasters," commented one expat who made the move to Las Terrenas, the Dominican Republic.

"I am a retired expat. No I did not close my UK bank account but I open a new ones here: an US$ account and a DRpeso account. Not a lot of meaningful banking differences but a little more expensive," remarked another expat in Las Terrenas, Dominican Rep.
