As a foreigner living in Brasilia, will I have access to public healthcare? What is it like?

Answer this Question

We asked expats in Brasilia if they have access to public healthcare in Brasilia. And, if they do have access, what is it like. They wrote...

"As a foreigner living in Brasilia, you will have access to public healthcare through the Sistema Único de Saúde (SUS). The SUS is a universal healthcare system that provides free medical care to all residents, including foreigners. However, the public healthcare system in Brazil is known for its long waiting times, limited resources, and sometimes inadequate facilities. It is recommended that foreigners also consider obtaining private health insurance to ensure access to better quality healthcare services and shorter waiting times," said another expat in Brasilia, Brazil.
