As a foreigner living in Nicosia, will I have access to public healthcare? What is it like?

Answer this Question

We asked expats in Nicosia if they have access to public healthcare in Nicosia. And, if they do have access, what is it like. They wrote...

"As a foreigner living in Nicosia, you will have access to public healthcare, provided you have registered with the Cyprus National Health Insurance System (NHIS). The public healthcare system in Cyprus is generally of good quality, with well-equipped hospitals and qualified medical professionals. However, it is worth noting that public hospitals may experience longer waiting times and may not have the same level of comfort as private hospitals. Additionally, while most healthcare professionals speak English, language barriers may still be encountered in some cases. It is also recommended to have private health insurance to cover any additional costs or to access private healthcare facilities for more specialized treatments," remarked another expat in Nicosia, Cyprus.
