What advice to expats in Rio de Janeiro have about housing?

Answer this Question

When we asked people living in Rio de Janeiro about the social scene there, they described it saying...

"When looking for housing in Rio de Janeiro, it is important to research the area thoroughly and make sure it is safe and secure. It is also important to be aware of the cost of living in the area, as prices can vary significantly. Additionally, it is recommended to use a reputable real estate agent to help you find the right property for your needs. Finally, it is important to be aware of the local laws and regulations regarding renting and buying property in Brazil," explained one expat living in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

"I am in an excellent position as my wife owns a condominium in a great part of the city. I've never had to look for housing but it seems to me to be as terrible a situation as New York, Chicago or San Francisco. You pay way too much and get microboxes and wretched infrastructure. I would be afraid to purchase anything but an efficiency here," said another in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
