What advice to expats in Guangzhou have about housing?

Answer this Question

When we asked people living in Guangzhou about the social scene there, they described it saying...

"1. It is a good idea to research different neighborhoods in Guangzhou before deciding on a house to rent. 2. Use online resources, or hire a local real estate agent to help you find a suitable place to live. 3. Consider renting a serviced apartment or a furnished flat if you plan to stay for a shorter amount of time. 4. Ask questions and make sure to read the fine print of your rental agreement before signing. 5. Understand the local rental market so you are aware of the standard rental prices and have a good idea of what is reasonable. 6. Make sure you have an understanding with your landlord on problems with maintenance and repairs to avoid misunderstangings during your stay," remarked another expat who made the move to Guangzhou, China.
