"When looking for housing in Almaty, it is important to understand the local culture and the expectations of the landlord. One great way to get a good deal when bargaining for a house is to make an offer that includes free labor or free repairs. It is also useful to arrange for local contacts to help with small repairs and contract work. Additionally, it is advisable to consider locating a house or renting an apartment in one of the many high-end neighborhoods in Almaty, such as Old Town, Bostandyk, or Medeu, which offer more safety and stability. Finally, expats should consider purchasing a property, as real estate prices in the city have been steadily increasing in recent years," explained one expat living in Almaty, Kazakhstan.
