Are foreigners allowed to own property in Sharjah?

Answer this Question

When we asked expats in Sharjah if foreigners are allowed to own property, they answered...

"Foreigners are allowed to own property in Sharjah, but with certain restrictions. In 2014, the government of Sharjah introduced a law that permits non-UAE nationals to own property in specific areas designated for foreign ownership. These areas are usually freehold zones or investment areas, where foreigners can buy property on a leasehold basis for a period of up to 100 years. However, foreign ownership is limited to residential properties, and non-GCC nationals are not allowed to own land in Sharjah. It is essential for foreigners to be aware of these regulations and consult with local experts before purchasing property in Sharjah," explained one expat living in Sharjah, the UAE.
