These documents may include a copy of the applicant's passport and proof of their ability to financially support themselves while in Mexico. Foreign citizens who intend to stay in Patzcuaro, Mexico for an extended period of time will need to apply for residency. To do so, applicants will have to submit a request for a residency visa to the nearest Mexican Embassy or Consulate in their home country. They will also need to provide documents that prove their identity, the purpose of their visit and their financial resources.
