What do expats find most challenging?
We asked expats and digital nomads what they find the most challenging about the local culture in Georgia Rep. They wrote...
"Expats in Georgia often find navigating the local culture quite challenging due to its intricacies. One aspect of the culture that can be particularly hard for international visitors to grasp is the concept of hospitality, which places a strong emphasis on respecting and honoring visitors, even beyond what might be considered normal politeness. Additionally, Georgians have a great reverence for traditional culture and customs, which can be daunting for newcomers to understand. Language barriers can be another obstacle, as English is not widely spoken in many parts of the country. Lastly, Georgian culture is heavily patriarchal, so it may be difficult for women to adjust to the different expectations and etiquette related to gender roles," explained one expat living in Georgia Rep.
