What are the most challenging aspects of retiring in Denmark?

Answer this Question

We asked retirees what they find the most challenging about retiring in Denmark. They wrote...

"One of the most challenging aspects of retiring in Denmark is the high cost of living. Denmark is one of the most expensive countries in Europe, and the cost of housing, food, and other necessities can be prohibitively expensive for retirees. Additionally, the Danish pension system is complex and can be difficult to navigate, making it difficult for retirees to understand their rights and benefits. Furthermore, the language barrier can be a challenge for retirees who are not native Danish speakers, as many services and benefits are only available in Danish. Finally, the weather in Denmark can be harsh in the winter months, making it difficult for retirees to stay active and engaged in their communities," remarked another expat who made the move to Denmark.
