We asked retirees what they find the most challenging about retiring in Barbados. They wrote...

"One of the most challenging aspects of retiring in Barbados is the cost of living. The cost of housing, food, and other necessities can be quite high, making it difficult to maintain a comfortable lifestyle. Additionally, the cost of healthcare can be expensive, and the availability of medical services may be limited. Furthermore, the language barrier can be a challenge, as English is the official language, but many locals speak a dialect of English called Bajan. Finally, the climate can be a challenge for some, as the island is hot and humid year-round," explained one expat living in Barbados.

"The cost of flights in and out of Barbados is quite expensive. The cost of food and water is also much higher than alternatives," said another expat in Clapham Ridge, Barbados.
