We asked expats if they save money living in Portugal. They said...

"Living in Portugal can be more affordable than living in the United States, as the cost of living is much lower. Rent, food, utilities and entertainment can all be more cost-effective when living in Portugal compared to in the United States. Additionally, healthcare costs are significantly lower in Portugal than in the U.S. Portugal is also home to many tax incentives that can help make living in Portugal even more affordable," remarked another expat who made the move to Portugal.

"Everything is quite a bit cheaper here. Supplemental health insurance for example, via the local bank, is just 48 Euros per month! at age 70. Dentistry is much much cheaper and the care is superb. Medications cost a fraction of what they cost in the States. Food is cheaper, eating out is much cheaper - A good bottle of wine costs about $5. Publis transportation is very cheap for the over 65 crowd. We're pleased," explained one expat living in Cascais, Portugal.
