"Healthcare in Ukraine is gradually improving, however, it still lags behind most other European countries in terms of quality. Healthcare is primarily provided through a public system, funded directly by the state. Access to medical care is free or heavily subsidized for citizens, however, the infrastructure and availability of healthcare facilities and doctors may be inadequate in some areas. Private health insurance may be taken out with either a local or international provider in order to obtain better treatment in some cases. The quality of private healthcare is generally seen as being much better than the public system. Pharmaceuticals can also be expensive in Ukraine, so anyone traveling to the country should consider taking out private health insurance," wrote a member who made the move to Ukraine.
