What do I need to know before moving to Dominica?

Answer this Question

When we asked people what advice they would give someone preparing to move to Dominica, they said...

"Before moving to Dominica, expats should be aware that English is the official language, although a French-based Creole is widely spoken. Expats should also be aware that the cost of living is relatively high, and that the island is prone to hurricanes and tropical storms. Additionally, expats should be aware that the island is largely rural, and that the infrastructure is not as developed as in other Caribbean countries. Finally, expats should be aware that the island is home to a diverse range of cultures and religions, and that the local people are friendly and welcoming," said another expat in Dominica.
