Are foreigners allowed to own property in Sri Lanka?

Answer this Question

When we asked expats in Sri Lanka if foreigners are allowed to own property, they answered...

"Yes, foreigners are allowed to own property in Sri Lanka. However, they are only allowed to own property in certain areas, such as Colombo, Kandy, and Galle. Foreigners must obtain permission from the Sri Lankan government before they can purchase property in these areas. Additionally, foreigners are not allowed to own agricultural land in Sri Lanka," remarked another expat in Sri Lanka.
