Are foreigners allowed to own property in Nepal?

Answer this Question

When we asked expats in Nepal if foreigners are allowed to own property, they answered...

"Foreigners are allowed to own property in Nepal, but there are certain restrictions. Foreigners are not allowed to own land, but they can own buildings and apartments. They must obtain permission from the Department of Land Reform and Management in order to purchase a property. Foreigners are also required to have a valid visa and a work permit in order to purchase a property. Additionally, they must have a Nepali citizen as a guarantor in order to purchase a property," said another expat in Nepal.
