Are foreigners allowed to own property in Russia?

Answer this Question

When we asked expats in Russia if foreigners are allowed to own property, they answered...

"Foreigners are allowed to own property in Russia, but there are certain restrictions in place. Foreigners are not allowed to own land in Russia, but they can own buildings and other types of real estate. Foreigners must obtain a permit from the Federal Migration Service in order to purchase real estate in Russia. Additionally, foreigners must register their property with the local authorities in order to be able to use it," wrote a member who made the move to Russia.
