When we asked expats what advice they would give a foreigner before buying a property in Argentina, they said...

"1. It is important to enlist a local lawyer who is licensed to practice real estate law in Argentina before purchasing a property in Argentina. 2. It is crucial to thoroughly research the legal aspects and due diligence required to own property in Argentina as regulations and laws vary from municipality to municipality. 3. Foreigners must get permission from the Central Bank of Argentina before they can purchase property. 4. Research the crime, location, and safety of a given area before committing to a purchase. 5. It is advisable to be aware of the differences between purchasing an urban property and a rural property. 6. Tax regulations must be followed when buying property in Argentina, such as the obligation of paying transfer taxes when buying a property. 7. Carefully review all documents before signing any purchase contracts. 8. Contract regulations must be followed before entering into a tenancy agreement with a landlord. 9. It is important to understand the local market and its dynamics before making an offer," explained one expat living in Argentina.
