However, the cost of living in the capital city of Ashgabat is significantly higher than in the rest of the country. Rent for a nice 1 bedroom apartment in Ashgabat can range from $400 to $600 per month, while a nice 2 bedroom apartment can range from $600 to $800 per month. Eating dinner at a moderately priced restaurant in Ashgabat can cost around $10 per person," explained one expat living in Turkmenistan.
