The capital city of Santo Domingo and other major cities such as Santiago and La Romana tend to have a higher cost of living than the rest of the country. A nice 1 bedroom apartment in the Dominican Republic can cost anywhere from $400 to $800 USD per month, while a nice 2 bedroom apartment can cost anywhere from $600 to $1,200 USD per month. Eating dinner at a moderately priced restaurant in the Dominican Republic can cost anywhere from $10 to $20 USD per person," explained one expat living in Dominican Rep.
