About Camille

I am a summa cum laude graduate of the University of Northern Colorado's Clinical Mental Health master's program, and a summa cum laude graduate of MSU Denver with a bachelor's degree in Psychology and a minor in Human Services. I have taught in the Psychological Sciences department of MSU Denver, teaching Psychology of Violence and Aggression. I have facilitated life skills, anger management, and DUI level 2 education and therapy groups.

For therapists interested in improving their EMDR skills, I am an EMDRIA Approved Consultant. I also volunteer with the Trauma Recovery/Humanitarian Assistance Program (HAP) as a Facilitator of EMDR Basic Training and am a HAP Approved Consultant.

In addition to the education and experience above, I have worked extensively in corporate organizations, including some involving as much as 90% travel. I understand the challenges of balancing the demands of a job with commitments to family, and somewhere fitting in time and resources for your own self-care, interests, and hobbies.

I have experienced the joy of accomplishing much in my life, and the sadness and disappointment of many "banana peel slips," too. I have grieved the loss of parents, pets, and others who have touched my life. What I have learned in all of this is that it matters much less what happens to us and much more what we say to ourselves about ourselves in the context of what happens. If you struggle with what you tell yourself for having the courage take risks, love and be hurt, or make mistakes that you learn from, I can help with this.

Compulsions

Do you wonder if chemical or behavioral compulsions are gaining power over you? Are you pretending to believe that you can have them AND the relationships, jobs, and hobbies that you enjoy, or that it isn't as big of a problem as others may be telling you? If so, I can help you explore and resolve ambivalence about these issues and replace unhealthy coping mechanisms with better emotional tools.

Self-Esteem/Codependence

Often hallmarked by being motivated by guilt to do things you don't want to do and experiencing resentment later, and rooted in early messages leading to low self-worth, codependence unconsciously sets people up to enable other's destructive behaviors. I can help you learn and communicate that your needs and feelings matter, too.

Grief

Society tends to minimize the actual time and effort required to process the full depth and breadth of grief. I work with grief at a pace your nervous system can handle without being overwhelmed.

Anxiety

Do you suffer from anxiety? You are not alone. Everyone does from time to time. If it is getting in the way of your functioning and accessing your emotions, I can help with techniques to regulate anxiety and get to what you are feeling.

OCD

Living with OCD can feel like living with a mean roommate who relentlessly tortures you with irrational worry. I often use Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), a treatment considered the gold standard for OCD. Learn more about treating OCD.

Trauma

Are you tired of giving your power away to people or events that hurt you? Together, we can work to resolve the disturbance from these events so you can move through your life with an increased sense of empowerment. Learn more about treating trauma with EMDR.

Couples/Relationship Issues

Whether you are married or thinking of marrying, living together or apart, or trying to decide if both of you want to work on the relationship, I can help you break unhealthy patterns and replace them with new ways of relating in which you both feel heard and understood.
