Swimming Pools

We will either be buying a place with a pool or we'll get one put in, we are aware of the costs involved, but would like to know how much roughly it will cost to maintain a large pool per annum, is it something we can do ourselves or would we have to use a proffesional? if we were able to do it ourselves, where would we get the equipment(haute-vienne) and what equipment are we likely to need?
