Private insurance in France

Hello everyone,
I am retiring in France in April of this year. I hold if for a fact that I will get covered by the CMU of the "Securite Sociale" health system. I worked in France previously and it confers me the right to be covered by the CMU, as I contribued to the French health caresystem in the past.
of course, I still will need to be paying 8% of my 2004 income in the USA, and this, every year, until I turn 65 years old.
Once in France, a lot of paperwork will be necessary for me to fill in in order to get the CMU.
QUESTION: What do I do in the meantime -- for 2 to 3 months-- until I can get covered by the CMU? My American insurance does not cover me abroad. Should I use a private health insurance that would cover me for emergencies for 2 to 3 months? Any recommendations? MERCI !
