How to find a rental?

I just got back from my 3rd trip and have narrowed my first stop choices to Dumaguete, Puerto Princesa and Puerto Galera. The plan is to move around July next.

My web searching has turned up few rentals - mostly vacation properties. Any advice on how to find a good apartment or small house?
