Nine opposition political parties have announced their intention to boycott
Gabonese legislative elections scheduled for December 9 and 23. Because of
the possibility for public demonstrations, the U.S. Embassy in Libreville
cautions American citizens living and traveling in Gabon to consider
limiting their movements during and immediately following the elections, to
exercise caution in public areas, and to avoid large gatherings and
potential demonstration sites. Americans should also monitor the local
media for developments that may affect their safety.
American citizens in Gabon are urged to register with the U.S. Embassy and
to obtain updated information on travel and security in Gabon. The U.S.
