Back in 2004, our son Braden was a one-year-old baby, and he stopped growing. Our niece Elizabeth already had been diagnosed with Celiac Disease, so when we coupled that knowledge with the suspicious nature of what we were finding in Braden's diapers, we started to suspect gluten was the culprit.
But, alas, our search was not yet over!
While family history pointed toward Celiac Disease, Braden's blood work was not definitive. So, his doctors asked Betsy and Josh to be screened. Betsy's blood test ruled out Celiac Disease. Josh's? Not so much. His results were through the roof and his endoscopy sealed the deal. Braden was soon also confirmed to have Celiac Disease.
Our family has been on the gluten-free diet for 5 years now, and we'd like to think we've learned a thing or two about how to manage Celiac Disease and the gluten-free diet and lifestyle.
The truth is, we like to share what we've learned, and we get the same impression from so many other people we meet that are on the gluten free diet - Celiac or not! And since we have been internet entrepreneurs since the late 90's, we decided to create a place that will also let you show what you know about the GF diet.
Our philosophy is that you don't have to wait for someone to ask a question... Go ahead and share your tips and tricks so that others can benefit from the wisdom of your own gluten free experiences. And then when YOU need some advice - or just want to keep track of your own ideas - you'll find it all on Gluten Free Grapevine!
