Expat Advice: Relationships in Kuwait City, Kuwait
What is the name of the city or town that you are reporting on?
Kuwait City
What is your current status? Are you single, dating, in a long-term relationship, married or divorced?
Single and sometimes dating both expats and locals.
What is it like in your country of residence for someone with your relationship status (married/divorced/dating)? If you're single, how do you meet other people? Do English-speaking people tend to gravitate to certain parts of your city?
From my experience, it is easier for Western women to meet Kuwaiti and Arab men and enter into Kuwaiti social events. It is more difficult for Western men to meet and date Arab and Kuwaiti women and take part in the local social scene. Having said this, there are plenty of single Western women to be found, especially teachers. Single English-speaking men can meet them in the Sultan shopping Centre, Starbucks in Salmiya, or any of the health clubs. There are expat teacher parties, there is also the Hash House Harriers, as well as balls such as the Anzac.
What would be the best advice you could give someone with your relationship status that lives in your country of residence? Any other thoughts?
Take risks. Meet people. Be friendly. The broader your circle of friends, the more likely you are to meet new people through friends of friends. There are a lot of singles in Kuwait just waiting to meet you.
