Australian family needs advice!

Hi,

I would love to hear some advice on our travel plans for 2012.

My husband, myself and children (daughter who will be 4 and planning a second baby who will be 2) would love to live in Vancouver for a few years.

I have a few questions,

1. Would we be able to live quite comfortably on a single income at $35-$40 an hour, 40 hours a week? It is less money than we make in Australia and I know the cost of living in Vancouver is high.

2. What neighbourhood would you suggest that is reasonably close to Vancouver General Hospital and good for little kids? Would Kits be out of the question?!

3. Could we make do without a car or is it essential?

Any other words of wisdom greatly apreciated.
Thanks!
