Where to live

My wife will still be working FT and our kids will be in college. Can anyone recommend where to live near Toronto & Ottawa?

We would like to be an hour or so outside the city and/or an hour (at most) from a major airport. Somewhere with a small city, library, lake , parks, cute Main Street, Pickleball courts, etc…

We recently went to Toronto twice this year to look at the University (for my son) and a volleyball camp (for my daughter). We also visited Vancouver to look at the University there as well. My son loves Toronto and will be applying there this fall.

Any advice would be helpful.
