Transferring funds from the UK

Hello friends

i want to transfer a largish sum from the UK to buy a property in Santiago. What's the best way of doing this? The person I am buying from has a savings account there but is not resident in Chile. What's the most efficient way of effecting the transfer and is any tax payable?
