Two times it has happened to us when traveling to Santa Marta and Guatape my fiance was asked to produce some kind of "proof" that her son was actually her son. She had the official hard plastic ID card with his picture on it but the hotel required some sort of paper document. Don't know what it is exactly but I was told rach time that , yes the document was needed to get the photo ID, but it didnt matter still needed the redundant paper document as well. We've been all over Colombia staying in Casa Dann's, top floor Holiday Inns, Marriotts, Hiltons, in Bogota, Medellin, Cali, Bucaramanga, etc...and have never been through such red tape as we went through with these other top tier resorts in Santa Marta and Guatape. Anyone have any solid knowledge on what might be happening in these two cases? Ha ha if its good enough for Casa Dann then why doesn't it fly with other hotels?
