Visa Renewal timeline

So... My M visa expires 12/28/2026. How far in advance can/should I apply for another M visa. For my original application I self filed online and had no FBI check required, no financial evidence submitted (I just stated that my wife and I both receive SS and that it is sufficient for a life in Colombia. I was granted a visa for slightly less than three years. Anyone with recent experience?
