Importing Cars to CR

New Topic Newest First

I received a message on this topic but can't find the thread.
We have an old pick up that would be perfect down in Jaco.
I'd like to know more about the import tax if anyone knows how it all works.

Not recommended at this time. It's very difficult to get accurate information on this subject from any CR government official. There seems to be mass confusion between the local government and their embassies in the states.

If you are intrested in importing your car, you should get a hold of what in Costa Rica is called a "blue book", in it you will find depending on the model, year and other specifications of the vehicule the exact tax that you are going to have to pay once in Costa Rica.
I have this blue book at my office, if you email me at [email protected], I can send it to you, and this way you can decide if it is a wise decision to bring your car.
