Those who travel constantly to and relocate in Costa Rica are afar different type of ex pat, on averge, than the folks who travel to and reside in the "poorer" side of Central America. We may have a bit more crime, but a lot more culture, and your money goes a lot further than in CR, with a lot less formal beauracracy, in fact don't some of these 'gringos' even know that their maids and gardeners and waiters, bus boys and dish washers are Nicaraguans..in the US the anglos see all Latinos as "Mexicans"..we had some US Citizen Costa Rican residents tour in Guatemala and all they did was badmouth Guatemala and talk about Costa Rica? Why even bother leaving? Well I never need to put $60,000 in the bank here or get a "lawyer" to get things done!
