Greetings to all!
You may call me Jay. My wife and I are about 5 years from retiring and seriously considering moving to Costa Rica after retirement. I am in the process of doing research on which area in Costa Rica I should be looking at for buying a home with about 1 acre or more of land to raise chickens for eggs and meat. My wife wants to be close (<30 min preferred) from the beach or some waterfront where we can swim comfortably but also quiet and private (another reason we are looking for a bit of acreage).

What in your opinion are some areas I should investigate? From what I've been googling, these are places I should look into:
Orotina
Tarcoles area
Las Vueltas / Herradura hills
Esterillos Este / Oeste inland hills
Atenas
Grecia
San Mateo
La Garita / Palmares

Do you think these places are worth checking out? Do you recommend any other locations?
Thanks,
Jay
