marrying a dane -- US divorce decree wording?

Hi,
I am a US citizen planning to marry in Denmark, and am hoping someone with firsthand knowledge can offer a bit of advice about requirements regarding providing adequate divorce decrees from previous marriage. Even the US Embassy-Copenhagen website acknowledges that US decrees are not phrased properly for danish authorities, but now what do I do? It has been suggested that the county court clerk provide a statement that the decree is final, no appeal, and the parties are free to remarry... but my state will not allow the clerk to do so for legal reasons. They said it would amount to her "interpreting" a judges order, big no-no.

Anyone who has had to deal with this, please advise as to what the best course of action would be here - it is starting to seem an impossibility for an American who has been divorced to get married in Denmark!

Thanks in advance,
Mayana
