Is living in a hut resort, as in Malaysia and Thailand, feasible in Fiji? I am thinking of lifestyle as well as budget. I like being a beach buddy, interacting with euro travelers on the level of Lonely Planet.Maybe those days are gone.. but it beats the bar at the Outrigger.

Fiji seems an ideal site. Are the people very like Polynesians? The cultures are a relief.

In the middle, Fiji is relatively close to my roots in Honolulu. Do you go there for holiday? Or Auckland? Or Oz? Shop in Singapore? (Expensive!,)

Are expats living in “colonies” or in local neighborhoods?
